This holiday sprinkles loaf is perfect for the upcoming holidays! It is simply delicious! The flavor reminds me of a cross between pound cake and funfetti cake mix. It’s moist, tender and soft, and has a lovely vanilla flavor. The frosting adds a nice sweetness. This would make a lovely birthday cake as well. And you can change up the color of the sprinkles for any time of the year.
Let’s get started!
We have all the ingredients ready to go. If you do not have buttermilk, pour lemon juice into milk or cream and let it sit about 10 minutes. It will become thick – exactly what we want. We are using both cream and milk with lemon juice to create sour milk.

Cream the melted butter and granulated sugar together.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Stir in the vanilla.

Add buttermilk.

Mix well.

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add half the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until almost all the flour is incorporated. Add remaining flour and sprinkles. Fold until gently mixed.

Grease pan with lard or grease of choice. I also put a piece of parchment in the bottom because I thought the sprinkles may stick.

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan.

Bake at 350F for 30 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If it browns too quickly, place tin foil over top and decrease heat to 325F until cooked through.

Cool for 20 minutes before removing from pan. Place on a wire rack to cool completely.
Combine powdered sugar, vanilla and cream together. Add enough cream to make a spreadable frosting. Lightly beat until fluffy. Spread over top of loaf.

Sprinkle with additional sprinkles. Once frosting has set, slice and store in airtight container.

The sprinkles melted into the batter more than we anticipated, but it still looks pretty!

It’s so good! We gobbled it up – we’ll need to make another!
