It was a snowy -1C/30F today. Our first snowfall of the season! A snowy and chilly day calls for hot cocoa, a delicious way to warm up!! This triple chip fudgy hot cocoa is definitely for chocolate lovers — it’s rich, decadent, chocolatey and not overly sweet so the toppings help to bring a little sweetness. It’s delicious and we’ll definitely be enjoying this hot cocoa all winter long!
Let’s get started!
In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.

Add 1/2 cup of milk and whisk vigorously until you have a smooth chocolate paste with no lumps.

Add the chocolate chips. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently while gently mixing to melt the chocolate.

Pour in the remaining milk and heavy cream.

Stir constantly until the mixture is steaming. Do not boil.

Stir in vanilla.

Once warmed to your liking, spoon into a mug. I added a bit of steamed milk to mine being as it’s a bit rich for me.

This hot chocolate is great as is.

But you can also serve with your favorite toppings.
