It’s Day 5 of the 12 Days of Cookies and today’s cookie is for the chocolate lover! It’s a rich, chocolaty cookie with chocolate drizzle and a hint of cherry from the pie filling. I think a cherry flavored frosting drizzle would give it a bit more of that Black Forest flavor, but they’re delicious nevertheless.
Let’s get started!
Cream butter and both sugars together. Beat well.

Add egg and vanilla and beat until creamy.

Add half the flour with cocoa, salt and baking powder. Stir well.

Add remaining flour. Dough may be stiff.

Roll into balls. Just used the cookie scoop.

Make indent and chill rolled cookies for 1 hour.

Fill cookies with cherry pie filling. Place on cookie sheet.

Bake at 350F for 10 to 15 minutes or until edges are set. Let cool 10 minutes before placing on cooling rack. Careful to not over bake because they’ll be crunchy.

Once cooled, drizzle with melted chocolate.

Let the chocolate set.

These cookies can be frozen from raw or cooked. If freezing from raw, freeze without the filling. Add filling once baking.
